If you love pumpkins as much as we do, you won’t want to limit yourself to just making a jack-o-lantern at Halloween. Recently, I was looking to warm up my dining room and give it some fall flare, when it hit me.

I wanted a one of a kind centerpiece. I decided to make a simple but beautiful centerpiece out of a pumpkin and some flowers. By carving a hole in the center of a pumpkin and placing a beautiful arrangement of flowers in the center, you have a unique fall inspired spot for your favorite flowers.

These creative pumpkin centerpieces (a quick project of 30 minutes!) get everyone excited about the season and display just the right amount of elegance and fun.

We love the real thing, but if If you find real pumpkins too much to keep up with, craft supply stores have craft pumpkins that can be carved into beautiful centerpieces as well. It’s good to remember to do this as close to the day of a party or gathering as possible so the flowers and pumpkin are still fresh. Rest assured, when you are finished, your pumpkin centerpiece will not only make a beautiful statement it will leave a lasting impression on your guests.

What You Will Need:

– A Pumpkin (Small or Medium)
– A Scoop or Large Spoon
– Autumnal Flower Arrangement (these can be real or silk)
– Soup Can or Small Vase

Select fall flowers in your favorite color palette. Using several colors and sizes will make the piece visually interesting.

To get the pumpkin ready, start by cutting the top with a serrated knife. Saw around the top of the pumpkin in a circle.

After you have finished carving, position a metal can in the space you have created. (It’s OK if your can shows a little. Once the flowers are arranged, you won’t be able to see it)  Now, you will want to fill the metal can with water.

6. Cut the flower stems so they are a few inches taller than the height of the pumpkin and position them in the can.
